Geothermal: Our Story

About Us

Colorado Geothermal Drilling has designed and installed over 500 geothermal projects throughout the Front Range. We are capable of performing a heat load calculation to determine loop field sizing as well as an economic analysis to show the geothermal system's payback over the life of the system. We strive to master leading edge technology and pride ourselves on the quality of services we commit to our clients.

Geothermal drilling in compact space

Colorado Geothermal Drilling has successfully completed numerous projects throughout the Front Range, both residential and commercial, new construction and retrofits of existing structures. Our set-up is unique as we are able to access compact areas with our equipment, setting us apart from other drilling operations. With our vast knowledge of geothermal design and installation we can provide customers with valuable information, answering any questions, and providing the best energy efficient system to fit the clients' needs. The combination of this equipment and our personnel allow us to successfully and repeatedly complete numerous drilling projects along the Front Range.

Meet The Team

Dan Rau has a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE). Because of Dan's engineering background, he has a comprehensive understanding of geothermal systems and can help our clients to design the system most appropriate for their heating and cooling needs. Dan grew up on a farm in the Midwest and has a passion for enhancing and building more efficient, safe, and streamlined equipment. This in turn makes our installations require less equipment and manpower. His engineering background and equipment design and operation make him a rare occurrence in the geothermal industry.

Kari Rau executes the marketing and advertising strategy for Colorado Geothermal Drilling and collaborates in all aspects of managing a green, family-owned, small business. She is on the Steering Committee for the Brighton Business Builders, Chairs the IGSHPA Marketing Committee, and often writes about geothermal and renewable energy content for media publications.
